Macherelles is on the northern (Puligny-Montrachet) side of the village, from a similar terroir to Puligny’s Perrières, according to François, with very little soil above the bedrock. Rich and driving, this is a wine of verve and impressive power, with baked apple, cedary spices, sherbety zest and waxy lemon on the long finish. One for the hedonists but elegantly done.
