Cryptic Red Blend 2012
The 2012 Cryptic Proprietary Red was designed to compete with the bistro-styled, fleshy, well-crafted Apothic Proprietary Red produced by Gallo. There are 25,000 cases of this kitchen sink blend that no doubt includes some Zinfandel, Rhône Ranger varietals, and who knows what else? The bottom line is that it is a luscious, medium-bodied, exuberantly fruity, dry red with plenty of character as well as Provençal herbs, pepper, meat, black cherries and blackcurrants. Drink it over the next year with pizza, hamburgers, etc. It is an excellent choice for bistros and brassières.
